Hi Brooksy and Welcome to the Madhouse

The short answer to your question is yes these things run hot - and they get really hot at times when stuck in traffic. Sadly side mounted radiators are not brilliant at dissapating heat when stationary.

At that temperature you should be able to hear the radiator fan running? If it is not running you have a problem which needs attention.

When you get time please swing by the "introductions" part of the forum and say Hi to the rest of folks on here.

    Take Care ATGATT

I fitted a switch so I can turn on the fan in traffic or anytime I want. The fan still turns on by itself when the temperature gets high. This was my solution to our problem.

116c is still within 'normal' operating range - although at the top of it. I personally would be turning my engine off at 120c - although Honda say 128c I think.

Mine normally runs at 78c & in traffic I sometimes see 106c. The fan comes on at about 102c from memory.
