How difficult is it to get to the carbs (90)

Well I replaced the oem air filter with a K/N and now my bike is popping a little as I run down the engine. This would happen from time to time prior to me replacing the old filter but it's much more frequent now. I'm told I should have my carbs re-sinked and that they are probably running a little too lean. I'm just wondering if this is something I want to take on or if I should take it to a shop?
