I know the VFRD group gets together at Deals gap. But I am sure there are other locations where we could meet.

Hey guys what about doing a Summer and Fall gathering for EastCoast members? I live in NYC and it is a really neat place to be during the summer mainly for the beaches and all kinds of free.events. The city is not a great place for riding but Queens and Long Island are really great places to ride. I guess it may break down to where people on the EastCoast are located and the type of gathering people want to organize. If the event is going to be a weekend event in the summer I strongly recommend the Long Island South Shore - forgive me or being a beach lover. The shore offers a variety of beaches (clothed or legally clothing optional), camping, partying and great riding in areas that are motorcycle friendly. Anyway let's do something - I love a nice ride and would also go down to other areas on the East Coast. I would also have to recommend other surrounding areas such as Conneticuit, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Another idea would be to pick a EastCoast Rally to meet up at and do some partying and riding.

Well I am definitely liking the quick feedback.. I really appreciate it. If there is any people that are more experienced with organizing things like this it would probably go better than me doing it lol....I am in virginia so either up or down either way I could go or you guys could meet in between b/c skyline drive is awesome here in virginia.

Sounds like me. I'm in Maryland, just North of Baltimore so if anything gets organized that not too far away, I'm in.

Right on, now we just need to find a nice central location with good riding, and pick a date! I am on the west coast, so I don't know what may be central, but throw out a few suggestions and we can vote. I heard Birmingham in conjunction with the AMA race (which is always a fun time for a VFR crowd). Would that work for a lot of people? Any other suggestions?

An east coast meet would be great, and I agree that we're in a great riding area , not to mention centrally located.

Convention or not, I wish that all of you would get the opportunity to see Barber Museum, 29 Dreams, and ride the Copperhead (Hwy. 25).

With Thunder Roads, Barber, 29 Dreams, and a new Moto resort opening soon in NW Alabama, there's a real revolution going on in Alabama with regards to bikes.:clap2:

The Copperhead alone is worth the trip!

Hey Guys, I am excited about an East Coast get together. I think the Va location is really good but that would be my second choice. I would have to say Baltimore may be better for east coast riders up further north like in Maine or New Rochelle. I am in NYC and would go to Baltimore, Va or North Carolina - No offense but I would not go anywhere near Alabama - nice place just not for me - I am sure the riding is nice but I cannot do Alabama - it is a nice place - no offense - sorry - hey I am in NYC and I cannot blame anyone who does not want to come here - crazy place but ok for me just not for everyone I guess. The real question is how may VFR World Members are in the EastCoast area - is there anyway to check the member list and see how many east coast riders/navigators are here?

You can click on the member map and see those who have pinned themeselves to it. It's not a commplete listing, but there are a number on there.

If you live in the East, there are two events every year for VFR riders. The first, COTU (Center of the Universe) is HQ'd in Marietta OH, a days, ride from the NY-DC corridor. It happens in May

The second, WDGAH (We Don't Give a Hoot) is HQ'd in Lebanon NH and takes place the first wseekend after Labor Day, when the the roads are empty of tourists & Leaf peepers.

Both events have ready-made routes from 250 - 450 miles on some of the best twisties in the East- OH & WV for COTU and ME,VT,NY,CT&NH for WFGAH

The events are publicsized on the Big VFR List:
    https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr

Routes with maps & route instructions are available on my site:

What if you set up a poll with a couple of locations, MD VA DC PA etc and see which gets the most votes. Then do another poll with a couple different weekends and see when the most people could go.

Not too much interest I guess, but I'm still game even if there's only a couple of people.
