The VFR 750 included a flux capacitor from the factory. This means if you plan on doing any time travel on your 700 you'll have to buy an aftermarket flux capacitor. Other than that there is not a huge difference between the two bikes. Regards, Rollin
The road test for the 1986 VFR750F that is in the June 1986 issue of Cycle magazine has horsepower reported at 82.55 @ 10,500 RPM.
FWIW, I had a new '84 VF700R in '84 and it was a real dog. No way did that thing have anywhere near 82 hp, half of that maybe. Okay, not that bad but it was a really lame, very smooth, but didn't seem like it had much more poop than my old '73 750 Bonneville. Rode it a couple years and sold it to buy a new '86 FJ1200, which I still have.
Yes, the '86 750 was a major upgrade from the '84. Back in the day, it was a rocket, but by today's standards it's not. It's funny how things change.
