Seems about right. I am cringing just thinking about the inside of the fuel tank. Good proj for someone though.

It was a complete VF500 squirrel.... simply stated it doesn't run. No bullshit ... just the facts

 

My uncle just sent me this one that I could potentially pickup for spares. If it was a little closer to me, I'd probably consider it. Coincidently have to head out to detroit for work this week... But I need to get the VFR700 running--not another VF. I wouldn't mind having that spare motor though..

not at all. i only hate the grief and frustration and expense of getting one running after it was left neglected for years and theres a scarcity of new parts and im a young inexperienced mechanic but i got it so cheap with a few crap tools and no service manual.

my respect to the few who have succeded and have a decent-running, ridable 5oo with no undue noises, a real accomplishment.

bonus points to riders who would risk any higher-rpm adventure above seven k.

 

I figured somebody on here might be interested because it's (probably) a good deal for the right person. Realistically I'm not going to make a 14 hour round trip to pick one up since I'll get smoked on both gas and tolls having to drive from WI.

If it's still around in October, maybe I could try to figure out a way to swing a trip to Detroit, pick that thing up, and then do a track day at Grattan. Never been to Grattan, but I've heard it's pretty fun, and I know Wera races there, so it'd be good to have some prior experience with the track if I ever get that bug up my butt to try racing there. But that's like a 2.5% chance of happening. So someone else should just grab it and make it a 0% chance so I don't have to think about it.

 

Sometimes I'm glad when things go away before I could have acted so the temptation isn't there any more and I don't have to think about it or bring home more shit. But I don't feel like I missed out cuz there was no way in hell to do anything about up to that point anyway.

 

That's why I post this stuff... one of you gentlemen will buy them and I don't have to wrestle with the should I or shouldn't I ....
