Honda Pledges Aid For Recovery From The 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck Kumamoto in southwestern Japan late Thursday, killing at least nine and injuring more than 1,000. Another strong quake measured at magnitude-7.1 followed today. Honda operates a factory in Kumamoto.

With the hope to contribute to the earliest possible relief and recovery of affected areas, Honda has committed to provide the following aid:

A donation of 50 million yen to the Kumamoto Prefecture.
Gasoline-powered generators, in addition to emergency food and water supplies.
Road accessibility data for the affected areas in the Kumamoto Prefecture from its Internavi network, on Google Maps and Yahoo! Maps.

Honda has halted manufacturing-related operations at its Kumamoto Factory (Ozu-machi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture) since the night of April 14, and has not commenced operations as of April 15. A decision to commence operations on April 18 or later will be made based on factors including the state of the facility.
