When a good friend of mine deployed he left his SP-51 (European version of the RC) with me for 6 months. I think it would be an awesome second bike. I thought the handling was a little on the heavy side but very stable and I loved the V Twin grunt. The only negatives I experienced were its ergos, not quite as bad as a 999 but still a full on race position. The bike only really seemed to come into its own when you were hammering it. The other side of that coin is it loves to be ridden hard. Oh yeah, pulls nice wheelies too (even for a novice). The only reason I don’t have one now is the wife enforced “one bike rule”. I think for a second bike it would be the Bomb! Plus, like the VFR, you don’t see that many of them.

I've been told the bike gets very hot in traffic, likes the open road, so if I lived or commuted in the city, i'd get something else, Honda says it's not making the bike anymore because most people would rather have a cbr1000rr, it's faster, lighter, and a few thousand cheaper. So for those of us who value a different bike, maybe something rather than an inline-four, we're outta luck here. If I could afford a second bike, I'd jump at an RC-51.

It's different like an aprilia RSV1000R but easier to get parts and service for.

Still think a homelgobblen VFR/RC would be just right. I can see a RC51 with VFR ergos and a rear sub frame off a 6g VFR, plus the SSSA.
