Not to say it runs bad, just not right.

You likely don't remember but when I got my bike it was gettign horrid fuel milage. I was getting 22mpg, I changed the thermostat and got it up to 29 or so. Still crappy, but it runs very well, I was beginning to think it was just a characteristic of that bike... unitl today.

A guy here at work has a 5th gen VFR, 1998 model and I took it for a spin. I turned out of the parking lot here like I always do and hit the throttle in first gear like I always do on my own 2002 VFR. My though was they're both V4 honda interceptors, how different could they be?

    WTF

I hit the throttle in first gear like I ALWAYS do, same hand position, riding position and all that and I was greeted with a front tire about a foot off the ground. I've tried to pull an accelleration wheelie on mine just like I did his and it won't happen. Normal riding position and with only a blip of his throttle it's a unicycle on his. My bikes throttle blip is more of a nothing compaired to that.

As stated before, my bike don't run right. There can't be that much difference.

There will be winter work done.

Maybe that guy at work is not running stock gearing. The 6th Gen can wheelie easily but you have to time it correctly so that the VTEC engages just as your front forks are decompressing.

I'm so there with you on the power issue, but I do get 38-40 mpg consistently each tank (all freeway at 75+ mph).

My girl, though she has been very dependable since I got her running again, will not pull a wheelie no matter how hard you beg her too. I know this because I have tried, multiple times... on take off... rolling jump... full throttle just isn't giving her enough juice, it's more of a rounded increase in power rather than a jump to light speed like other bikes that I've ridden lately.

I know she's old, but there's just no excuse.

If I had the time and the money right now....

I wonder if the previous owner of your bike has a power commander on it that might have a bad map?
But yeah, check your airbox, filter, pair valves,...

the only way to get a Vtec to power wheelie is gear change, power commander or the " chip "
