Long time rider, about to join the VFR fold. Sold my Triumph Sprint to fund the purchase of either the 7th gen VFR or an '08+ ZX14 (also like the K1300S).

Looks like the VFR in my sights is bone stock, so you'll see me posting on the modifications most people do to make their bikes their own - Z-Bomb, luggage, exhaust, etc.

Thanks to SkiMad4x4 for the warm welcome!

    - Dan

Welcome to the forum from another newbie.

The Triumph Sprint is the bike most commonly compared to the VFR. Lots of guys try to choose between the two when in the market for a bike. You have already owned a Sprint and are switching to a VFR. You must have done some comparisons between the two and have decided a VFR is better for you. Would you mind sharing why you have decided to go from a Sprint to a VFR? Why do you prefer the Honda over the Triumph?

I just have newbikitis. Loved my Sprint, was just ready for something new. Only had one complaint - lighting at night while at lean (projector headlights cut off on top). Other than that, I loved everything about it. I have NO PREFERENCE of Honda over Triumph. Sold the Sprint simply because I wanted a new bike, and in deciding what to get, the VFR was on my short list. I liked it when I rode it, and I found a good deal. It's also a little more ergonomically friendly than the ZX14, and I've never owned a V4. K1300S, which I think I like more than the VFR, is pricey in purchase price and maintenance.

I just found a good deal on a used VFR, I enjoyed my 20 minute test ride, so that's that. Hoping to pick it up tomorrow. I guess I'm a bit of a bike whore, just wanted a new ride. :cool-new:

I do prefer Honda's excellent reputation for reliability, as I'm a function over form guy at heart, but I also prefer the cache of a Triumph as well. My other bike is an Aprilia, so I still have a European bike in the garage...but if the VFR is what I think it is, it may be in my garage for a long, long time. The bike I found is extremely low miles and still has warranty through 2016. Hopefully it looks as good in person as it did in the pics.

Welcome. Funny you mention the lights at lean issue. I have a low mile 98 which I love but the lighting when leaned is just bad. The older sprints like 2000 or so is the other bike I would love to own besides my VFR.
I love the look of the old rounded sprint fairing. Much like my old rounded 5th gen fairing. Dont care for the new plastics on all the bikes.
