Well, I accidentally hit the starter switch instead of the on/off switch tonight when shutting down the bike at idle. Made a really faint buzzing noise for a split second when I hit the button. I released it almost immediately and hit the on/off switch like I originally intended to do. The bike restarted fine after this. Whats the chance that I messed something up and how would I know?

It was a stupid mistake, the buttons aren't even the same color. I'm still trying to get used to the bike. For a while I kept hitting the Horn button while going for the turn signal cancel button (talk about embarrasing). I guess practice makes perfect. Thanks, David.

I think it'll be fine. I'm sure you're not the first to hit the starter insted of the kill switch. I rarely ever use that switch. If you lower the sidestand while in gear, the engine will shut off. I sometimes do that when I want to leave the bike in gear when parking on a hill. Other than that, I just use the key.

The bike will be OK,just don`t do that any more!
Bigger mistake is if you start engine with trottle, you may broke the threads on starter!Only start switch-no throttle.

Thanks for the replies. I will be more careful in the future:smile: . I looked up starter in the maintenance manual, it does not look like something that is easy to repair/replace. -David.

This is not an issue for just an occasional mistake like that. Now if you make it habit, then that is another thing.
