Having issues with a high idle after doing valve clearances.

idle is about 2750-3000 (max of the cold idle/choke setup?)

Clearances were miles out worst was 0.22mm exhaust & 0.11mm inlet. explained some of the lean condition on one cylinder.

I've been over the pair system all feeling to seat and seal properly.
all vacuum hoses that were disturbed have been checked.
intake rubbers the ones between throttle body and head visually inspected.
rear inlet cam was dialled a few teeth forward, put it back to stock markings. Noted how it all was before changing of couse.

Only thing I can see at present is if the starter valves have been synch'd / idle set while the valves were way out and spark timing a few degrees advanced.

Engine exhaust note is clean & crisp. exhaust colouration light brown not grey. Spark plugs all reading clean combustion.

Anybody else struck this & any ideas what to look at next?

I is common for the idle to be high after adjusting valves.
If any of the exhaust valves were tight, it causes the engine to not want to idle.
Just as valves correctly adjusted will make the engine idle much better.

You probably will need to turn down the idle.
Also check your throttle cables as they may have got moved or out of position.

Oh BTW... Rocketscientist WHICH kind of motorcycle?

    Fuel injection or carb?

Is the bike idling the same when cold as it does hot?

Turned out to be just wear and tear. Throttle body not shutting as far as it should. Just lubed it and rode it around with a very low idle for a week or so.

    it's a 5th gen by the way.

    Thanks for the help.
