Going on vacation in two weeks and considering taking my bike. I live in Ohio and am going to Colorado. Not riding there and back.. but thinking about loading in truck and taking with me. Want to go for a ride in the mountians. I have a 4th gen 1995. Anyway Would I have to re-jet my bike or or would it be fine for a day or two of riding? Any help would be great? Thanks!!!

I wouldn't bother rejetting for only a couple of days. I ride a '94 and live at 8.5k feet. My carbs are jetted for sea level because I also ride "down the hill" and don't want to keep resetting my carbs every time. Your bike will just run a little richer that's all. If it were jetted leaner for the altitude, it would then need readjustment for sea level or would run too lean. Too lean and you risk overheating and burned plugs. Enjoy the ride.

I used to be real anal with my dirt bikes regarding this. Riding at 6500+ feet one weekend and sometimes down to sea level the next. One time I didn't have time to mess with the jetting and I discovered my efforts really weren't all that worth it for the pleasure riding I do. If you're racing that's another story, but I agree with Vifferaver on this one.

I third the motion. It would be "iffy" enough for one carb in an easy-to-get-to location, and hardly worth it on an inline four. On a V-four...

It might be easier just buy an extra VFR that was already rejetted

Thanks all for responce. The rejetting was the deciding factor on weather i was going to bring the bike or not. So thats makes my decision. Now... Just have to figure out how to load it in truck... Thanks again for everything!!!!!
