After a long time waiting I finally got my DCT !! Purchased the bike and took it for a test ride!. Not knowing what to expect, I was very disappointed with the down shifting of the transmission.
In D mode it will shift very fast in less than 4 sec. to the fifth gear and stay there doing 37 MPH. When I opened the throttle to accelerate it did not down shift and continued in fifth gear using all the torque of the engine to accelerate. That felt very unusual and in my opinion put a lot of stress on the engine . It did down shift when the throttle was fully open.
In the S mode it reacts differently and will not up shift so fast leaving enough RPM to accelerate normally if the throttler is opened.
My question is if this is normal when it comes to down shifting in auto mode?
It seams to me that this transmission respond much better when riding the bike in an aggressive way using throttle and brake like on a track !
Beside the down shifting I love every thing else. Sold my Yamaha GTS1000 (1993) and bought the VFR!
Have a RUNE, a Goldwing and a CBX that I am restoring in my garage.
Owned numerous bikes since the 70's.
    Most recently ST1100, Yamaha FJR1300, CBR 929RR.
Always enjoyed riding bikes, I am 63.
