Hi I’m new here and have some smoke coming from my exhaust

Alright, so I’ve worked on cars only. This whole bike mechanic thing is new. I picked up an 84 interceptor 500 with smoke coming from the exhaust. It has 28,000 miles on it and I don’t really know anything about it. It looks like it’s been cared for aesthetically, but oil is coming out of the valve cover gasket and it’s all around a little caked up.

Smoke OUT of the exhaust or OFF of the exhaust? You really want the answer to be OFF.

 

Valve stem oil seals is the first thing that springs to mind ? If it's blue coming from the exhaust ?

 

i guess you didn't do any research on this site b4 purchasing a VF500.................

or do a compression check.
