    Hi All,
My name is Rob and I have been a member since April 2013. Please forgive that I never posted or said hello until now. Not real good with these things.
I have enjoyed many posts from the members of this forum and look forward to having a more active presence. A good mate put me onto this site after I saw his VFR. I liked his bike so much and saw some of the great things others on this forum have done to their bikes , I bought one.

I have owned my 5th Gen 2001 VFR for just over a year now and love it more each day. Originally I bought to suit a specific purpose but it has now become more than just an everyday rider.
It's now time to start changing a few things. My mate (who has been a great help and support so far) has agreed to help me as long as I contribute to the forum (give something back) by detailing the changes along the way. So hopefully some of you will find some of the stuff we get up to useful. Especially the bits where I (oops I mean we) stuff up.

Catch you all in the forums

Hi Rob and welcome at last to the MadHouse:welcome:

Its always good to welcome another VFR fan to the forum, but I should warn you that you the folks will be raggin on you until you post up some photos of your 5th gen! (Click reply, choose the "insert image" Icon, and follow the prompts, to select and upload photos from your computer)

As for modifications there are plenty of things which might be worth exploring - but that really is down to personal taste and what you plan to use your VFR for. This might give you some ideas.. http://www.murphysmotorworks.com/VFR/

These things are pretty heavy and have a habit of adopting horizontal parking mode with little or no warning - so frame sliders may be a worthwhile add-on. Likewise its a good idea to free off the mirror stem bolts, then tighten them back up just enough to keep them in place when riding, but still loose enough to swing harmlessly out the way if the bike falls over or you clip a passing car in traffic.

My personal favourite mod, as I do a lot of mega long touring trips is to add a Vista throttle lock, which can be among the best and cheapest upgrades for your VFR, and if you want a discrete install, I found this works very well.. http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/invisible.html

In the meantime - let the fettling begin.

Thanks for the info and the welcome SkiMad. Much appreciated.
Hope these photo's come out so I don't get ragged on. I also put one up in the Photo section of the forum earlier today.

My good friend "The Toad" has put up some threads regarding his bike's transformation in the past (http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthre...ay-Build-Built-journal-blog-thread?highlight=) and I am hoping to do something similar.
I also covered a lot of distance with one of my other bikes BMW K1200GT but this is no longer. So my VFR is going to replace all my toys and be the best all purpose bike I can make it whilst looking as good as I can get it.

I'll get started on my thread over the next couple of days so if you have time, keep an eye out for it. I'll may need all the support I can get.

    Cheers Rob.
