Thought I'd join the forum as I have used the site whilst researching prior to buying my VFR1200.
Well I have the bike since 03/2013 and have covered approx 4000 mile
2000 of those we a trip to the Alps in June (Shame about the snow )
Col d' Allos on Motorcycles - YouTube
This is this 1st non out & out sports bike I've had for a long time but my initial concerns over lack of fun have proven unfounded.
I've read a few post complaining about the suspension but I find it fine with the rear set near max+ (16 stone short ass)
Only issue that I have experienced is the original front tyre only lasts 3000 miles prior to having to change due to excessive wear (worn in V profile). I would have been delighted with this mileage on my Aprillia RSVP Factory but disappointed with the touring BT21. Now got a pair of BT23's to see how they work (so far so good)
It has occurred to me that using the rear brake (and thus a bit of front due to duel braking) has caused the tyre to wear earlier than expected.
Also worth noting that with th 21's I experienced a slight weave on the front that has seemed to disappear with the 23's
PS don't why the photo imported upside down :)

Welcome aboard. See that you have an XT500, those things have acquired legendary status here in SA.

    :welcome:

I found that I was going through my rear pad quick. Now I only use the rear brake as a parking brake for when I'm stopped in traffic or something. More than enough breaking power with just using the front as a piston in the rear engages the back.
