I' ve been riding for decades a long list of brands. My question is this I placed a deposit on a 97 vfr, noticed paint bobbling at lower fairing, could this be evidence of fuel leakage from engine, which I have read does occur on some 97 models? And should I still buy said bike or invest in another 2005 for less minus givis.

    :welcome:

Go ahead and grab it;fuel leaks can be fixed. How many miles on it and quanto pesos dinero ?? I'd recommend the '97 over the 2005 option due to more reliability, simplicity, and easier to work on. In addition, the '97 has gear-driven cams, an essential VFR feature imo. :eagerness:

Personally, my wife owns a 96 VFR750 and I own a 2000 VFR800, and even though they both share the exact same Delkevic slip-on, the 96 just seems to sound sooooooo much sweeter. The 94-97 VFR's can be harder to source plastics for as the bike is getting older but in general they are great bikes.

What is the price of each bike? I agree with Squirrel that the older bikes are much easier to work on yourself but having linked brakes and fuel injection on the newer models sure is nice and parts are much easier to find.
