PICS: Her Gen3 back in the shop

I feel like i just did this but its time for some body work. This time a bit more extensive. Kris slammed her viffer down on gravel at low speed late last nite shortly after the comment of how she's ''never gonna drop'' her bike. Well she seems not to be hurt, she was wrearing all her gear and got away from the bike. She is aweful pissed at herself & I'm a little bummed that was was to be a 3 day weekend of riding is now gonna be back in the bat cave of my shop sanding, patching & sanding again then likely repeating that process. true extent of damage is not yet known. I looks prety cut n dry bodywork and a new mirror but I'm just digging into it. I'll snap some picks as I go. might as well make a decent tread out of this since my weekend is now shot.

Ah Nuts! That sucks. It figures, never tempt Murphy's Law. The most important thing is that she's allright, bruised ego's are better than broken bones, the bodywork can always be repaired. I know it sucks being stuck in the garage and losing a good riding weekend (been there, done that many times myself),but look on the bright side VFRhusband you've finished this bike once before hopefully it'll go quicker the second time around. Definitely take some pics while you work, threads like that are always cool,it'll give the rest of us a chance to see you in action. Good Luck.

Don't let the surface damage fool you, the bike is ruined forever and can't be fixed. Please pack all the parts into boxes and mail to me immediately. You can start with that R6 tail assembly LOL!

    Regards,
    Rollin

Damn. I dont think anyone doubts that both she and the bike will bounce back. Shit happens, keep us posted. HAH posted, get it? Cause your posting the thread. crap weak attempt at humour to lighten the mood. I ruined my tank 2 weeks ago, I feel the pain. I had to pick my bike up in front of about 40 cars stopped and staring my ego was bruised as well. Im sure its all fixable, and some shit you cant avoid no matter how careful you are or how much you love your ( or her ) bike. Good girl wearing her gear, the most important part of the bike wasnt hurt ( Kris ). You fixing a few bruises on the bike is alot cheaper then the Doctor would be if she was hurt. It will all be ok dude and dudette! Just got to do a little work is all.

    first update & questions

OK. first of all all body panels are patched up and in various stages of primer & paint. while its down Im getting the urge to make some upgrades. 1st is to finally get the pipe hi-mounted. thats a prety simple mod for me. Now my questions. I am in my shop looking at a 94 cbr900 front wheel, it has a new bridgestone 130 70 zr17 mounted. the rotors are the same diameter as the gen3. Will it fit??? 2nd question. will its matching rear tire, a 180 55 zr17 fit on the 8 spoke and clear the swing arm? Some guidence from the Gurus would be helpfull.

im not sure about the front wheel...
but, the third gen rear wheel is 5.5 inches wide, the same as the sixth gen.
so the 180 tire will be no problem.
the third gens come with 170 tires right? so 180 would only be 1 centimeter wider...
so half a centimeter on each side, im sure would be no problem for swing arm clearance...

CandyRedRC46, yep. The 180 was no problem. the cbr900 front wheel looks to be a go as well. had to pull a dust cover off my old magna wheel for the left side where the mechanical spedo was and Im about to cut new spacers on the lathe. left side is 7/16'' short and right is 5/16'' under. new spacer lenth is left 1 3/16 right 3/4 in with the cbr wheel

the cbr900 rr front wheel & rotors are installed and seem good, as well as the 180 rear. still keeping a photo log.

In the couple hours i had after working over today I got the high mount pipe mocked up & tacked together. Gonna have to change up the turn signals a bit. Bummer that I have to stop and get in the rack to wake up for work. Not a bad day 4 of the build all and all.

    The CBR900RR wheel

The front wheel has been repaced with a front 16" off a cbr900 mainly for the rotor upgrage. New spacers have been cut & a dust seal from my gen 1 magna did the trick to cover the area left from the mechanical spedo.Any tracking issues that may arise will be delt with after the road test...

    the pipe

the high mount was prety simple of a mod. it did require moving the turn signals but that needed done any way. one small notch had to be made in the under side of the R-6 tail....
