do you have pressure at the master cyl. ???? try rolling forward then see if it will shift out of gear.

I posted that question for my husband, I have no idea what pressure at the master cylinder means. It worked fine yesterday. Today nothing. I was hoping to give him an answer in the morning. I appreciate your help.

It will roll forward and go into neutral but the indicator light will not come on therefore it will not start.

According to what I'm seeing in the Honda parts fische it shows that your '92 VFR750 is equipped with a neutral safety switch. If your bike mechanically shifts into neutral, but the neutral indicator light on your dash doesn't light up and the starter won't engage,it's most likely that the neutral safety switch is probably stuck. Neutral safety switches usually use either a pin or a ballbearing with a spring behind it to make and break the electrical connection for starting the bike. To test for this, disconnect the wire harness connector for the neutral safety switch and put a small jumper wire between the two terminals. Turn the key switch on and see if the neutral light lights up. DO NOT TRY TO START THE BIKE AT THIS TIME! If the neutral light on the dash now lights up,unscrew the neutral safety switch from the engine case and see if the pin or ballbearing will move. The spring pressure is usually pretty hard so it won't move much. Try to clean the switch with brake cleaner and compressed air,the pin or ballbearing has to move freely on that spring. What usually happens with switches of this type is that dirt and gunk gets up in there and the switch simply sticks,or the spring weakens over time and the switch doesn't make good electrical contact.

Don't know if this will fix your problem, but it's a simple test and it's as good a place as any to start. Good Luck with your bike.
