help me to understand this helmet.

I saw this helmet on CL staying SHOEI RF1100 LIMITED but doesnot have DOT in the back. I'm confusing. So i went online search and found these . What do you think?

Buying a used helmet? I would never consider it. Ick.

That the Shoei doesn't have a DOT sticker? Not a big deal IMO since I don't think Shoei makes a bad helmet. And I remove all the stickers from my helmets as soon as they are in the door.

 

I know what you mean. I'm getting it for short quick ride only or passenger. I think, it's better to get the helmet who bought new but used only few times without damage than those unknown cheap ones
I thought DOT lettering should not be a sick-on label. And 1 of above link, video has DOT cert but images don't.

 

All of the DOT stickers I've paid any attention to, just peeled off. They weren't under the clear and removed easily. Some people will buy the DOT stickers to stick on their plastic "pudding bowl" helmets.

I owned the RF-1100 and it is a great helmet especially if it fits your head properly. It is both SNELL and DOT certified and has great ventilation. Only issue with this is the noise level is a bit higher.

FYI, SNELL stickers are actually bought by Shoei to put on their helmets only after it passes certification. SNELL will actually go into stores randomly and purchase SNELL sticker helmets and re-test them. If they do not pass, they revoke the SNELL rating for said helmet model. Not sure if DOT does the same but DOT doesn't seem to carry as much credibility as SNELL to a lot of riders.
