I'm heading down tomorrow to buy a 2002 VFR from a guy and it looks like the VIN sticker on the frame (to the left of the tank above the fairing) is missing. He says there are no signs of adhesive or any scratches.

Is this a big deal? Should I be worried about it absence. The bike is otherwise clean with the exception of some scratches on the right side where it fell over, but this makes me wonder...

Check to see if the VIN is stamped on the steering column. I removed the sticker from my '99 and didn't have any problems when I sold it.

Turn the bars (usually to the left) and you should see the vin stamped in the steering head. As long as the number matches the title you should be fine.

I took mine off of my '04 for no other reason than I was painting the frame and didn't want to see it there. As long as the numbers stamped on the neck match the title, no problem.

The missing sticker isn't a problem in and of itself. Mine was missing when I bought my 2004, but so was every other sticker on the bike including the wings on the gas tank and the sprocket wear sticker...
