HELP, I'm kinda confused..

    hello, I'm new to riding.. I been riding a Vf700C Honda Magna, a V-4. I absolutely love it.
    Well the question I have is, I'm looking for a new bike, and i really like the VFR, but I'm looking forward to attending track days. So, I like the VFR's but they are more sport-touring, well maybe a rc51? But they're so many different bikes, like Rc51,Rc45,NC30, etc. I'm kinda confused on what is the difference.

    Also, I have been looking at a VFR 5th generation, (year 2000) I like the stock yellow. So, any advice would be helpful, or any History sites or.. something..

    P.S. I'm going to be working on the bike myself, does anyone know of any Great books out there? I was thinking about buying 101 Sportbike performance projects, by Evans Brasfield.

    If you can only afford one bike, then I'd still recommend a VFR. The RC-51 is gonna cost you more and it won't be near the comfy level you're used to with the magna. The VFR is an all-around.

    If you want to try a track day, do you really need a race replica bike for the first times around? or is it the image and ego that is driving that decision, vice the practical side?

    How much money do you have to spend... if you can get two bike, or can only have one. If you're looking at self maintence.... how's your tool collection? Is that to save money, or prevent the shop from screwing the bike up?

    The VFR is a great all around bike and you can do track days on it. However, if you lay it down it's gonna cost you a lot to get it fixed. I've only done one track day here and I used my buddy's SV 650. He got it cheap and uses it just for track days. I guess my point is, the VFR is ok for an occasional track day but if you want something to learn on and then race with, get something else.

    I'm probably just going to get the 2000 yellow vfr. I will probably take it to the race track once or twice, but i will get another bike for just racing. Because I couldn't stand for the vfr to go down...

    I'm planning on buying my own tools as i go down the road, i have a pretty good selection of tools.. It's to save money, and prevent the shop from screwing up my bike. Plus I can customize it how I want it.
