Came across pretty amazing article in the local newspaper here. This isn't about preaching all should wear helmets, I just thought it was incredible it was his first time wearing it and it probably saved his life, that and the smokers standing outside. If you read the comments below the story, there is some additional commentary from (bystander) one of the people who was out there when it happened. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=177068
DWI on a suspended license. Did not realize the guy was under him. Awesome. I wonder what else this guy has going for him. Not to sound like an old curmudgeon....but Thank God the smoking bystanders acutally stepped in to help!! In this self important, litigious day and age, that actually comes as a bit of a suprise to me. Glad to see there are still people out there willing to do the right thing. And of course, the main theme, the helmet and gear..well, thats miraculous. That guy had to have been drug fast and hard to burn through the jacket he was wearing.
true. hopefully the good samaritan laws will continue to protect us like they have so far. I keep waiting for someone to successfully sue someone for trying to help, though. I mean, hell, my hospital is being sued right now so I hear by a pt who for all intents and purposes should have died due to the severity of his injuries, yet was saved, put back together, and then got pressure ulcers because he refused to turn as often as he was told. Apparently his lawsuit against the driver that hit him didn't earn him enough so he went after the hospital. (you know hospitals are huge corporations with endless bags of money) oh well, what to do...
