I will start by saying hi. My name is Chris I have a 84 vf500f 19k miles was completely stock when i bought it a year ago at a motocycle swap meet for 900 dollars rode it home, immediatly started working on it added new tires, brakes, flushed all fluids, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter. Rode most of last summer stock found a set of cobra f1r slip ons for it added those towards the end of last summer. Over the winter stripped the front fairing brackets and all off of the front rerouted all wiring inside the frame ordered 7" round black headlight for the naked look of course the stock gauges wouldnt do so sourced a set of gauges from an 86 honda vf7ooc magna painted gauge cups black trimmed lower half of the warning lights off repinned connector to match interceptor wiring, removed top triple clamp drilled tapped and helicoiled for gauge mount made custom brackets to mount gauges. shaved under tail to clean up installed smaller turn signals relocated horn. The best part is with all the modifications none were made to the bike the bike could be put back to stock in an hour or so [IMG][IMG][IMG]

It's difficult to strip these bikes and make it look good. You did a real nice job and your skills show. Enjoy.

    Welcome!

I tend to agree with Hopit, I'm not a big fan of cafe style headlamps on the 500 but this said your skills and design intent do show though.

As you have removed the fairing you could look into switching out to CBR600F Hurricane clip-ons (no clearance issues). These are 37mm as well and have a nice down angle on the handle bars. They also have drilled and tapped inserts that allow you to add bar end weights.

Good luck with your mods and keep us posted on the progress!

I also would have thought stripping the front is a bad idea, but you did a great job, nice looking effect. Welcome.
