Located in VA. First time wannabe ridder. No bike yet, but obviously you guys know what kind of bike I'm interested in. I take the MSF course on Monday and am excited.

Tired of people telling me that a VSF is too big/ much a bike for a new rider. Im 5'11 205lbs.

Any suggestions on where to get one that wont kill my pockets. Also what have you guys found that insurance companies charge for these bikes? Im 31 married and have had 1 accident in the past 3 years. With progressive. Their quotes: 6r-$1500/yr full; ninja 600 - $500/ yr full

I was absolutely apalled at what Progressive quoted me when I called them about my bike. I went back to State Farm who insured me based solely on the displacement. I could ride a GSX-R750 for the same rate as my VFR. I think my rate is $300 for 6 months but I'm not positive. All I remember for sure is it was 1/4th or less than what Progressive quoted me.

Hi hfam. Welcome to the group. For finding a VFR? there are a couple for sale in the classified section here. You can also look on e-bay and traderonline.com. I think craigslist.com (to the right click on your state, then city, then go back to the left and click on your catagory) might yield some results as well. As for insurance......I just have liability and I pay about $240 every 6 months through state farm. That may be a little high to some, but I can guarantee it would be higher through anyone else. The completion of the MSF course may also help you get a little lower rate, you will just have to ask you agent to be sure.
