Bought my first bike ever last Thursday, '06 VFR w/o ABS. I am anxious to take the beginners MSF course and acquire appropriate riding gear ( not just a helmet! ) Until then I will only tool around in my driveway.

This bike is a bit tall for me, glad to learn I am not the only one, thanks to this site!

I have already leaned very much about this new machine due to VRF World. I look forward to communicating with so many like minded individuals.

    Thanks,

    Gunzer

    Welcome Nooby!

Congratulations on the new ride. You've got the right mindset with getting the proper gear and the MSF class behind you. Rock on and ride safe.

Welcome Gunzer. The MSF course is sure to be a good start to learning the proper techniques for a new or inexperienced rider. You must have a big driveway to tool around in it. There is a lot of great info here (and opinions too) so don't be afraid to search around for info or to ask questions.

[IMG] and congrats on your bike!

Yes the MSF BRC is very good. After tooling around on your viffer the small 250cc bikes they have for the course will feel nice and light!

Good call on getting some gear. I bought all my stuff from the 'closeout' racks at places like motorcyclecloseouts.com revzilla.com newenough.com denniskirk.com etc, I don't care if it's an old style etc plus it let me get more gear by paying less.

    Welcome.

It's always refreshing to hear about someone who does this process in the correct manner. Pat yourself on the back for that.

Make sure you buy gear that fits & is motorcycle gear. Every single day, I see people riding around on base wearing nothing but BDU's & the Icon MILSPEC vest. Sorry, a poly/cotton blend long sleeve shirt IS NOT a protective garment. With all the advances in gear in just the last 10-12 years, there is no excuse to not wear ATGATT. I have a jacket for every forseeable riding condition, including 2 that are for temps as low as 32f & as high as 85f.

    KC-10 FE out...
