I am the previous owner of a 2002 VFR, 1996 F3, currently own a pair of Nighthawk 700s (trying to sell), and just purchased a 2000 VFR...in bright yellow. Of course I'm ecstatic about the bike, but not the color. Ideally I'd like to do the black/red color scheme like the '02 F4i, but have no idea how to go about it. Does anyone know if the plastics could be compatible? How expensive would paint be? Any possibilities with decal kits? I'm desperate to get this thing ready for the spring and am open to any options out there. Any and all help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

watch out for ALL painters: the good ones are super expensive, and the others are slow, careess, lieing cheats, about as reliable as your typical urban crackhead.......it's the toxic fumes!!

just the cost of quaity paint is excessive.

That yellow bike that you have is a pretty coveted item. I implore you to trade plastics with another 5G owner!!! I'm certain that there are a few on here who would agree!

I was unaware that the yellow model is sought after.

    Thanks for the info.

    I'll echo the above sentiments.

When I bought my 2000 viffer, I had the choice of Yellow or 2001 Red.

I went yellow and I sure am glad! (Nothing against the red folks who think red is the fastest color) :)

I wouldn't paint the yellow either. It is an exotic color that fits the Viffer well IMO.

I have either a '84 and '85, or '85 and '86, I can't seem to remember for sure. One is blue, one is red. Both are in great condition, but the blue one has a bad crankcase and is not running. I've been taking the best parts from both bikes and piecing them together on the red bike. Looking to get $2000 for the pair.

A yellow 5th gen is one of the best looking VFRs, IMHO. Lots of options on pipes for you. Staintune happens to be my choice. Undertails, are you talking about a hugger or a fender eliminator kit?

I've looked a little into Staintune...do they come in carbon fiber? I really want a high mount that won't be hot for my passenger, and I also like the look of CF. For undertails it is not a big deal if I get a hugger or just a fender eliminator, but I'd like something nicer looking than the typical stainless fender eliminator.
