    Just dropping in a line to say Hi, from Seattle.
    Hoping to learn from you all before I buy a VFR1200XD.

    Hi ArtY

    Welcome to the MadHouse:Welcome:

    There are relatively few VFR CrossTourer owners on here and by the general lack of posts complaining about problems the 1200XTD does seem to be a rare but very well sorted bike which will serve you well for many years.

    The DCT option will push up the price but if your joints are starting to complain the DCT makes riding a whole lot easier. They are really a bike for taller riders - a non DCT model was briefly available at a nearby dealer - but with 30" inseam I quickly realised the seat was far too high for me and wow it was heavy even with a tank on fumes. So eventually I went with the lighter VFR800F which in the low seat position meant I was not on tip toes just to get onboard.

    I guess you have seen these reviews of the non-dct version, if not enjoy.

    Good luck with your search. If you snag one please come back and post up some photos - over this side of the Pond they are a very rare bike.

    @skimad4x4 ,

    Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, I have been doing quite a bit of browsing looking for information about the VFR1200XD. Thank you for the video recommendations.

    There are conflicting information:
    1. from owners (with my height and inseam): they think it is fine and they loved it
    2. from owners (who are taller than me): they do not think it is wise.
    So, I'm still on an exploring stage.

    I test rode a VFR1200X, and it is big and tall.... OK if you can handle it, but it was even a bit large for my liking. What I wished they'd have done is brought the VFR800X to North America, I think they'd have sold a ton.

    Yes, indeed, it is a big bike. It cannot be missed on the road.
