D3347368-9B03-45CB-93FB-A2CB99A6EBCF.jpeg A couple of years ago I bought the bike I wanted as a new rider at 16. I’m kinda glad it was not my first bike lol 1983vf750f interceptor. I think that I might not be here today to be a part of this. I basically re did all plastics and clean it up engine was strong etc.... Have enjoyed riding it and respect the power now. It has developed a ticking around the clutch cover that seems to be there whether the clutch is in or out.... going to tear into it tomorrow. If someone has any ideas let me know.

    Thanks

Welcome from a new guy as well. Beauty job on that, it reminds me of the '83 V65 Magna I had, and heard all kinds of good things about the V45's. So I take it you're 18 now... where are you located, perhaps put your location in your profile. PS - I have the same no parking sign in my shop, LOL.

Welcome to VFRW Pepper! Is it a challenge to get your interceptor up on that portable stand? The bike looks very clean. Great photo!

WOW! I thought I saw your name in the obits Stuke.

He Pepper. Welcome to the World of insanities, weirdness, self indulgence and the occasional sign of someone sipping too much from the fountain of stupidity.. Looks like your ride is in far nicer shape than my 06. I think next winter I am going to tie into mine and do my best to bring it back into excellent shape. Mine has been ridden over the years like a cheap hooker on a Friday night and put away wet at the end of the night though. I've owned it since it was still in the crate and it now has over 220,000 km on it and running string still.

Good luck in resolving that ticking sound. Post up what you determine to be the casue. SOmeone else may be able to use what you discovered in their own diagnostics.

Randy, WOW! 220,000km. Love it!!! Reminds me of one of my friends who's a motorcycle mechanic. He's been in the business since the early 1990s. When talking about viffers he likes to say ~ you don't have to worry about the VFR engine. Just change the oil every 100,000km and keep riding.~
Good luck with your restoration project.
    Cheers

Hi Pepper. Welcome here. In 1983 I wanted one too, but got this GS750E that I Loved. Ah the '80's! Enjoy your Interceptor.

    Thanks Randy

Yes ticking was a very worn rear exhaust cam had a flat spot on it. So I have weighed all my options the first was to pull and send out for re furnishing .... at 1000$ us this would fix the problem but little pricey. I found a set of cams that are in good shape plus I bought a complete low mile engine that was a head gasket problem that never got fixed. The engine also has the oil filter modification that send s more oil to the cams. I’m hoping when everything arrives I can formulate the best cost effective repair.

    Cheers
