I've been a VFR fan since my very first purchase in 1992. I joined the forum 5 years ago floating in and out over the years but have never posted. Over the years I have owned 3 models (92, 94, 01) and would have stayed with the brand but Honda lost me when they discontinued the gear driven cams and didn't increase the displacement in 2002. My 1992 was stolen shortly after I moved out of NYC, I totaled my 1994 on a bike trip in Vermont north of Rutland and the 01 I sold to purchase my first beemer. A couple of years ago, 2 years away from my 50th birthday, I was feeling a desire for a bike with shaft drive, great power, ABS, and hard bags as I love to take long road trips. I was excited about the prospect, and all the rumors about the 2010 VFR but it fell short for me so I decided to purchase a lightly used BMW K1300s. Well, 2 years and 15k enjoyable miles later, I decided to part with the K13. Not that it wasn't a good bike, she handled amazingly well, hard bags, shaft drive, quick-shifter, traction control, really a great bike, albeit one major fault...she consumed about a quart of oil every 2 months. For someone with 37 years riding experience and countless bike models over those years, bikes which never needed to be topped off between oil changes, I found this unacceptable. Here's the good news, I sold the K13 to return to my 2nd favorite brand. Yesterday, I purchased a brand new 2010 VFR1200f! What a beauty, I can't wait till Spring BTW, between my 3 previous Interceptors, I logged 90k trouble-free miles. 70K of those miles were on the 92 and 94 with never a need to touch the valves...fantastic! I took the new bike for a little spin yesterday and was a bit disappointed by the power in first and second gear below 3500 rpm and the clutch felt a bit soft. Once I get the bike ( in Kansas City currently) and break her in, I'll give my impression. I'm looking forward to learning and, hopefully, contributing to this forum. Forgot to mention, I'm from New York originally but currently live in Connecticut.

Welcome back, I guess? Congrats on the new ride. Hoepfully she grows on you. Not that I own the latest model, but there's always been talk about the lack of power in 1st and 2nd.
