Just giving a hearty HELLO as I make my first post.

I have to admit, reading these forums helped me tremendously on whether or not to buy a 4th Gen, and after a few months of searching I finally found one. I really need to thank this forum for that! What a great bike it's been. Despite a few nicks and scratches that bother me, that all goes away once I saddle up and feed her the coals, taking in the breeze with that throaty V4 galloping away.

I really shouldn't complain with the low price I paid for it, however, after racking up some miles and taking closer inspection of the new front tire I need soon, my heart stopped a beat: Both my front and rear wheels are bent! It looks like it was driven into a curb, or over a speed bump way too fast. The wheel is not cracked, nor is the paint missing, but the bent portion is on the outer lip of the rim, on the left side, not both sides.

So my question for all you bike lovers: Are bent motorcycle rims repairable?

I tried to justify just how badly they were bent. The wheels do not bounce while driving in a straight line at legal speeds, but once I approach 95-100 mph, I can feel some vibrating/shaking from the wheels, then I slow down. They are not bent side-to-side, they are not wobbly, but there is a 2"-3" flat spot on the lip. I'd imagine this would be bad for riding curvy roads with, although, were I live, the land is so flat I can see the curvature of the earth looking down the roads. :frown: Definitely not bike country.

In the past I've been able to straighten alloy rims on an automobile with a wood block and hammer (kinda crude, i know, but it worked) and I'm thinking of trying the same with these. Alternatively, I can buy replacement wheels, but I'd like some input first.

    Thanks for reading.
