i finally installed my helibars (got 'em w/group purchase recently) a couple days ago. didn't post until now because i've been too busy riding! the first thing i did was review ottrod's awesome post of his install -- it was exceptionally helpful. between that and my factory service manual, the install went very smooth, and took only about two hours.

man what a difference. i'm 5'6" and don't have very long arms, so stock bars were a bit of a reach for me. the helibars are just about perfect. the day after the install i rode about 100 miles, had breakfast, and rode back. instead of being stiff and achy in my arms and shoulders, i felt like i'd ridden around the block.

in summary, if you don't yet have helibars on your vfr, buy them! you will not regret it.

This is not a knock on anybody or helibars, but as a rider I like to say - that is driffting toward old fart status, I occasionally find it amusing about the raving of taller bars or the like. Hell I found my stockers too tall! And helis feel like ape hangers to me. It just seems I feel like I lose a level of control in the twists. I cant get down enuff off the side of the bike. Maybe its because I have been riding continuously since I was a kid.

Like I said, I'm not digging on anybody, just throwing out my experience. Ok, yeah, yeah, I'm a wackjob...

    Keep the rubber down!

I haven't had a chance to insall mine yet, but I'm excited. The weather is warm and sunny and it'd be a perfect day to ride, but I haven't seen my family in 7 months, so the heli install is on the back burner for a bit. Glad we were all.. well a lot of us... were able to take advantage of the group buy.

I put mine on a couple of weeks ago and don't notice any huge difference. It is a bit more upright, and gives me a bit more room to look about but I just don't think they are that much different. I do like them, and am glad I got them.

definitely no offense taken mello dude. personally, i like to hear all riders' opionions. and we're all wackos or we wouldn't spend so much time riding motorcycles! the only difference i see in our bunch of nut cases is that we're smart enough to own vfrs.
