helibars dimensions

    Hello all. I know there are probably loads of post started to do with helibars. But I can t find the answer I'm looking for.

    I'm after a set of helibars do my 2003 vfr800 vtec ABS. I've found a set that i for a vfr1200 f can you tell me if the sizes are the same. I belive the forks are the same at 43mm but what is the rises and handle bar length and tube diameter for the VFR 800 .

    Here is a link to the Heli-Bar website where they provide a few measurements for the bar dimensions as to their differences from stock bars. Ie difference in height, sweep back and such. The site doesn't give length or tube dimensions but does list the differences compared to the stock bars.

    My gut feeling would be that the Helibars for the 2002-2009 VFR800 and the 2010 up VFR1200 would not be compatible. According to the Helibars site there is even a difference between the manual and DCT versions of the VFR1200, likely due to differences in the handlebar controls between the two models.

    The site mentions that the 2002-2010 VFR800 bars are 1.25 inches taller and 1.5 inches rearward. The VFR1200 bars measure 2 inches taller and 1 inch more rearward plus a few other dimension changes that would likely be required to clear the tank and windscreen. I doubt that the VFR1200 bars at 2" taller would fit your bike without causing interference issues even if the bars are designed for use with the same fork tube diameter.

    thanks for the reply. there has got to be another company out there that makes bar raisers for the 800. i need a set of bar raisers, i'm 5,11 with long arms and torso and find that my head is tilted as far back as it will go to ride the bike and i'm getting pain from it. wrists and back are fine.
    £267 is alot of money for a set of bar risers. do they really make that much of a difference.

    The short answer is Yes. Whilst the physical change in bar position may seem quite small, its pretty much the maximum you can do without extending hoses and wiring, and makes a big difference in terms of achieving a more upright and comfortable riding position with far less pressure on your wrists. For me it was well worth the cost even if Helibars have got a lot more expensive since I bought mine.

    There are other options - convertibars offer an adjustable alternative which I have never tried so can't really comment. Likewise you could try Genmar risers which will lift the bar height - but it will not bring the bars back towards you which makes a big difference. Risers are a lot cheaper and perhaps worth trying out first. If they don't hit the spot, then you can probably get some of the cost back if you sell them on through eBay so you can finally buy a set of Helibars. The only other suggestion is to check out sites like ebay, craigs list Friday ads and Gumtree - as once in a while used Helibars do come up for sale!

    i spent the cash and got the helibars and bubble screen. just hope i can hide the bank statement lol.

    Ya you cant be cheap in the wrong way when it comes to comfort. Bubble and bars will make a huge difference. Let us know what ya think
    ...also sit ups help for core strength

    will let you know how i get on. i'm a fairly fit bloke being an assistant martial art instructor so the core strength im good with and its not the back or wrist pain i'm getting its the tilting back of the head to look forward thats the problem, this is the 1st sporty bike ive owned so think a bit of time will help me get used to the riding style too.

    I sincerely hope the bars work out for you. here is an illustration of the adjustment range the Convertibars offer on my 6th gen. I can quickly move back and forth between these positions or any in between with the use of a 6mm allen wrench.
    Of course the high and back position requires longer lines but there is no free lunch!

    Holy batman...I have never seen those...in the lower position they dont hit tank or fairing....???

    I love my Helibars and Givi touring screen setup. They have taken me on many trips and thousands of miles across the country.
