Rode a few hundred sweeeet miles yesterday. From the Maine Coast to the Presidential Range in NH, up Mt. Washington, then home via Cornish Maine - where Heli is based. I resisted the $300 Heli purchase until my wrists told me to stop resisting. Sunday, I was checking them out online and was pleased they were made here in Maine. And, to find out that the forecast was awesome and the Mt. Washington Auto Road was only open to bikes yesterday, I saw a plan coming together. I called Heli at 8:15 Monday morning and was told everybody was in Laconia for Bike Week, but if I could come by in the afternoon they could install the bars for me. Having read of issues with Heli fitment issues on the DCT with the accessory windscreen, that was exactly for what I was fishing. Lovely day, nice ride into the clouds, many stops to rest the wrists. Rode up the mountain skidlidless, it was really nice. Having done this ride before on a dual-sport, I remembered to stop beside the steepest dirt section and watch the fat-boys white-knuckle it down. A buck could me made riding people's bikes down for them! Then off to Cornish, pulled right into Heli's air conditioned lobby, and they went to work. Over an hour later they were installed and I allowed the man who installed them a ride or a tip. He took the five minutes on board and loved it. What a difference! Well worth the cost. The hazard button on the left switchgear just kisses the innermost trim on the windscreen accessory trim at lock right, and there's at least two sheets of thin paper's clearance to the tank at lock left. It's tight but OK. The throttle actually has more clearance to the tank, accommodating use of a wrist rest without it hitting the tank at lock right. The front brake assembly loosened up on the ride home, which ended up being a blessing. I had minor issue with it's positioning being high and inside, making hitting the AT/MT switch more difficult. After having a close look, I just rotated the banjo fitting on the brake line to allow me to move the brake position back down and out where it had been. Hoping it won't loosen up again, will keep an eye on it. Heli did not charge me for installation, they were very helpful and friendly while the big-wigs were at bike week. They have quite a variety of interesting stuff to check out too. The company's bar business was built largely upon VFR business - they had sincere respect for the mark. It was a pleasure to do business with Heli!
