Hi every1 well Im new to the bike world never riden a street bike in my life so I decided to get a cheap bike to learn with. I found a 91vfr 750 with 20k miles on ebay got it for a thousand bucks. it definatly needs cosmetic work although all the fairings are all there they are all held up with tie straps. more impotantly when I bought the bike the guy said it needed a new battery we jumped it off and it sound good (to me anyways) I bought a new battery and it wouldnt hold a charge so I put it in a shop my buddy recomended. well he changed the stator and a few minor things like spark plugs but no luck with the charging. i found this sight and read all about the r and r issues and printed off some of the articals and took to the mechanic. well now he says that because the guy who sold me the bike rigged it up so bad he is having a hard time straightening things out. can anyone give some advice on what I should do or know where I can get a diagram of the electrical system on the 91 vfr 750 please help was hoping to be riding this summer its been in the shop for 2 months now. thanx

    Replace your Regulator/Rectifier, it's shot.

I don't know why you would go about replacing the stator before testing it.

Welcome to the "I've blown my R/R on my Interceptor" club. Unfortunately I'm not a member.

EDIT: "Fortunately, I'm not a member," I should say, rather.

For future reference, never attempt to recharge a super dead battery with the bike's electronics. If the battery is drained enough the bike won't start, it needs to be charged with 1-2 amp, 12v battery charger (many autoparts places will perform this service free).

What's more, get your bike back from that mechanic. Any competent mechanic would have found a blown R/R VERY quickly. He probably just told you it's the other guy's fault because he doesn't have a clue.

Pretty much what Viff said, and yes, also it is better to trickle charge a low battery overnight versus using the bike to charge it. Check the R/R. For the diagram, I would look to buy a manual for your bike. I am not sure if someone on here has the manual online or not. Either we do or VFRDiscussion does.
