So now that she's up and running and it's almost winter time I'm thinking about adding some. So 2 questions.

    Thinking of these Oxford grips

1.Will the bike supply enough power for this? I don't plan on running any other power draws
2.Stock grips on the bike now are completely enclosed because the bike does not have bar ends. With any (i think) brands of heated grips i would have to install bar ends as the grips themselves are open. How are they installed? Just drill and tap a center hole in the bars? I looked at the throttle side when i had it off and there is metal in there to do this, i believe. Assuming the other side is the same.

*don't know how to search only 1st & 2nd Gen threads.

Those are the ones that I have and I cannot say enough good things about them.

Even on 50% they are hot as hell!!!

    To answer your questions:

    1. Yes. More than ample if you're not running anything else. They only draw 2A maximum. I run these along with a heated jacket liner in the early / late seasons.
    2. If you have the stock bars, they should already have an insert in them on a 6th gen. Not sure about 1st/2nd.

Too bad you have a 1st/2nd gen, I have a set of stock bars for a 6th gen you could have had for the cost of shipping if you need them.

If it were me, I'd get heated gloves. Whole lot less hassle.

That depends on the climate you're in.

Also one more set of cords you have to plug in. Less cords the better for me.

I'm going to install a pair of Oxford grips this winter. My plan is to route these through a relay that is controlled by the sign light but should I put another output from the battery or connect them somewhere else?

I use the Fuzeblock FZ1. It comes with a relay built into it. It allows you to select whether to use constant power switch power.

Rhino Let us know how it turns out. I LOVE pictures...LOL

I still plan on doing heated grips and was ready to order them when the dog tore her CCL. On hold for the next few weeks to see if surgery is required. Anybody ever try to keep a pitbull in bed for 3 weeks?

    Anyway back to bikes!!!
Figure i'll also order some bar ends at the same time and just figure out how to attach them when i can pull everything apart and see what i got to work with.

Get a small pen for the day with a comfy bed and crate at night.

    Hey guys!
I have the oxford ones (premium sports, I think) installed on my bike since 2014, and they work like a charm.
The only bad thing I've noticed since then is the place where your wrists settle on is already flat, without that grip pattern. But it keeps the grip! I can post pictures later if you want.
    Greetings from Portugal!

You may have the sport version the rubber in them is softer than the normal ones. Have a knurled finish.

I have the touring ones and they are wearing down a little where the crotch between my thumb and pointer finger meets the grip. All grips will wear over time.

    Very happy with mine.

Here they are. You can also take a look at the wear I told you about.
