I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about gear for next winter on here. I'm shopping around for some gloves on closeout, but I digress...

I'm currently running Helibars on my '09, along with BikeMaster heated grips. I actually have the BikeMasters on my NightHawk, too. They have five settings, work well, and are cheap--less than $50 on Amazon. The only downside I have found is that they made it difficult to fit my Vista Cruise throttle lock. I had to do some grinding to the grip side of the lock to let it clear the large-ish guard on the inside. Not a big deal, but it took some extra time.

    Here's what I got.

I've got symtec heaters under my grips and I am running helibars. Great combo. The heaters were like $35 or something. I installed a dial control on the left side of the instrument panel to control the temp and wired a relay so I don't kill the battery some day.

I have a 6th gen as well ('02) with HeliBars (same model as yours).

I use Oxford Touring Heating Grips. They are awesome, have an auto-off, and a nice control for the amount of heat to deliver. Highly recommend them.

I have an 07 with Heli bars. I went with Polly grip heaters, they are kind of a cylindrical shaped insert that goes inside the handle bar and have a high and low heat setting. I guess on the down side you can't run internal bar weight dampeners. On the up side, you run the wires inside the bar, you drill a small hole further down the bar for the wires to come out of so they are very inconspicuous; also a plus is you can run any grip you like. I was still able to use my Throttle Meister with this set up. Like most have mentioned, I too ran these through a relay. These heaters run around $25-30 dollars.
