Is this normal? New Rick's R/R and VFRness installed today, while it was warming up I noticed the headlights getting brighter as the RPM increased. Battery was charged over night as well... Concerned that I may have an issue, but I'm not strong with electrical. Any ideas?

check your output.... make sure at 5K rpm you have the correct voltage you should be ok... once the bike is running it should be using the power made by the stator instead of drawing off the battery.... increase rotation = brighter lights, at least it sounds good right? check your volt readings and they should be in the "normal range"

A slight brightness change with rpm increase is very much normal. Charging voltage should increase slightly as rpm's increase. You should see 13 to 15 volts at any given time. Any higher or lower and you might have a charging issue. Make sure all of your connections are good(corrosion free). Diaelectric grease on the spade connectors is a good idea.

I'll grab a multi meter from a buddy and check the voltage... I was having issues before replacing the R/R and wiring (Burnt up starter solenoid 4 times!) but, I don't recall the lights doing this. Thank you for the input!

A charging voltage check should be standard proceedure both b4 and after any battery or major electrical component replacement.

Yeh, and check your three yellow wire connection from your stator (I soldered my three wires directly to the plug that comes off the R/R) What gen bike are you running? I only fried my starter soleniod once, and thats when the original R/R took a shit and melted on my frame. It lasted 20 years though, I did a OEM stator replacement 5 years ago, and now I got a good Ricks unit, nice finning, looks heavy duty fer sure.

Cheers and good luck. Those are really the only weak points, once you get past that shit its all gravy.

Stator connections are good, thank goodness, I haven't pulled the cover to look at the stator itself though. That Rick's unit is a monster! lol It's a 4th gen, 96 btw.

All stator test can be done without removing the cover.
