head lights dosent work...

    Hey everyone I'm gonna make it quick. Mine head light dosent work....
    The bulb is good....taillight stoplight turnsignals.....work good.....the previous ovner wire....the headlight....with a wire from the fuse....to the headlight and then ground it....it works...that way....but I don't like it.....ii wire it the way it supousto be.......to 3 wires up front.....and it dosent work.....the high been .....light by fusys dosent work eather.....I change the hand bar switches and the thing above fuse box....that got all the lights....high been turn signals etc.....high been light dosent work eather...........is there some kind a kill swith......or somethink for front head lights..........the fuse is good...........thx everyone for coments.......

    Yea there is a 'kill' switch so to speak. Honda wires the headlights so they go out when the starter button is pushed. Follow the wires from your right handlebar swtich to the connector. Disconnect and short the harness side blue/white and black/red wires with a paper clip. Turn your key on, if the headlight now works the starter button/ right switch is bad.

    Ok will try that....whata about somethink like headlight regulator....is somethink like that....somethink like with turnsignals...

    One more think....u might be right dizzy...u prabably r......when I pres the right start button...switch...I hear click.....and that's it...I will do the think with paper....with I understand...block those three wires.....and reconect the harnes beck with paper....the last tghink I'm gonna do I'm gonna change the right handle bar...with the one from mine parts bike...if I'm gonna fix that...then....need new battery...fix fairings....and need to make the bike so its vgonna start tru the switch and I'm good...god the new oil and filter on biike already ehe. Love that vfr....

    The starter buttons on the early honda's were prone to heat damage and the tiny hinge on the button would break off and cause the button to get a little crooked and cause the contacts for the head light to fail to contact. You can try to pull the start button back out and the light may come back on but it will need to be replaced.On a positive note the later model starter assemblies are a direct replacement, no mod needed, it just plugs right in and is a much better part.

    So which model had the best switch? Was it the cbr 600?

    Problem...fixed...change the right handle bar switches...from mine other bike....now giot high low beems...and lights....end of thread....

    It will happen again, keep your eyes open for a gen 3 or newer switch.

    first day on the forum and one problem has already been fixed. I took the cheap way and just permanently jumped the headlight contacts with a bead of solder. Worked great.
