I don't really know if this has been talked about but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the key differences besides the obvious between the cbr600 f4i and viffer, I had the choice and chose the viffer because I liked the under tail exhaust and that it had a more comfortable riding position but I did like how much less the cbr weighed, I sat on both and that thing felt like nothing moving it around compared to the monsterous weight of the viffer, anyone currently or previously have both or rode both for an extended period of time, please tell me what your feelings are on them. I don't think I'm letting go of the viffer but may try to acquire an older f4i if it's worth while, there's a huge used bike dealer in north atlanta and they seem to have pretty good prices on the f4is so I am thinking about investing in one... any help would be appreciated!

...(replied to my post)...They are a stunt bike and if you can find one that is ALL original than I would pick it up but be very observant to the condition of it...under the plastic.

I have both, 2001 VFR and 2002 F4I. I bought the VFR in Sept. 2008. Originally, I picked the VFR (came with helibars and Sargent seat) for the riding position, wind protection and the V4. After I started riding with a sportbike group for a year and not having any back pain I thought maybe my back can handle a more aggressive position. Since I am a Honda guy I started looking at the F4I's. Just so happens that it has a pretty upright position and the footpegs are much lower than the R6, GSXR and Kawi 600, therefore more comfortable. The VFR handles great on the curves but a lighter 600 would be fun. In Dec 2009 I bought the F4i mostly to ride with the group. It is easier to handle and just as fast. You should be able to find an 01-03 for under 3000 before March. I had to replace the CCT and the fuel pump regulator in the last year. Of course you know the F4I is fuel injected so that was a big concern for me because I didn't want to have to mess around with carbs. If I could only have one I would keep the VFR because it can do everything.

I had a Red/black '02 for several years and went to my 98 VFR from it. Very capable, comfortable bike. I still miss it from time to time; wish I had the cash to have kept it. The main difference for me was the F4i is lighter and easier to flick around through corners; the vfr takes more work to get it moving. I fitted some Pilot 2CT's on the F4i and, wow... AWESOME stability on stock suspension that you could easily ride for 8+ hours. Also the top end "rush" of the inline 4 was nice (mostly on the onramps, but occasionally when I'd feel the urge to, "stretch her legs") Expect a higher top end speed around 145(indicated) and fuel economy in the mid-low 30's, AND the lovely scream of the motor at it's lovely redline around 14.5k. Brakes are great too - not linked!!! (That's my biggest gripe on my VFR. Hate 'em!) I'd look at finding a clean 01 or 02 so you get the two piece seat (like the 600rr). Watch for the Cam Chain Tensioner - I replaced two in 14k on my F4i. Otherwise it's the same old things to look for when buying a used bike. If you can find a good one, it'd be a great stablemate to your VFR for sure. Best of luck!

You could try a PM to member Tori. I believe his last track bike was the F4i and he had it a couple years and kept his VFR. He recently sold the f4i and got a yamaha for the track but he had pretty good things to say about the f4i.

okay, my back is bad from playing football in middle school, my concern is the riding position mainly which I could remedy. I like how honda bikes are in general as far as the engine and power delivery goes, I'm just wondering if I should get an f4i or a more naked bike, I want the triumph street triple but can't really find any deals on them and I was considering the fz6 for it's affordability and light weight and basically everything else I looked at lacked something I wanted or fell short in the performance area. My question was more to try to find out the bads rather then the goods because i been to all the good I would handle by the dealer I visited...
