Hi there. I'm relatively new to the site and am trying to get my 86 VFR 750 to run dependably. I have been having problems with slow starting, balking when running and going dead for no apparent (to me) reason. WELL......... i think i now know the reason as the other morning i got on and fired her up and headed out. After going about a mile, it just went DEAD. i mean all lights and power and everything was gone. I had just replaced the battery as it had died a few times before, but would always refire after a little while. Not this time.
After getting it home, I started investigating and guess what i found? You guessed it........ the R/R had melted and was now toast. no other apparent damage as far as melting or anything, but started looking for replacements. As i was looking on ebay, i saw an ad for one for my bike offered by a company called Ric's Motorsports Electrics out of VA and was wondering if anyone had any dealings or contact with this group, as i can not afford to get fleeced at this time.

any help or other suggestions or locations for that dreaded piece would be greatly appreciated.

    Arnold

You Should Do The Stator Too. I Did Just The Rectifier And The Whole Thing Fried Again. Be Sure All Wiring Is In Good Shape. Wiring Usually Gets Fried Too. Once It's All 100% You Shouldn't Have Any Problems. Mine All Cleared Up.

I have bought parts from Rick's. The R/R for a 93 is a beefy part and seemed to hold up well. The stator I bought I had to do a little mod with the wiring to route it correctly inside the case, but that was no biggie. Other than that, I ordered my R/R shipped overnight and had it by 7:30 the next morning. They were great to work with and very helpful.

Here is the link: Rick's Motorsport Electrics
