Has anyone actually rebuilt a gen5 motor because it was worn out.??A 98 gen5 for sale here in Australia by the original owner had 260000ks(162000 MLS) on it and claimed to be still going strong (no smoke)with a new clutch being the only motor parts replaced in that time?I rang the owner who had sold the bike and he swears it had only received regular service's and the clutch in that time.

My neighbor had an '01 that he put 110k on before he sold it. Regular service - brakes, tires, etc. He ran full synthetic. No problems.

I was thinking of putting a low mileage motor aside for when rebuild time comes but as I only do 5k a year I will be dead and buried the time this one wears out.

Possibly, remember reading about a in the UK BIKE Mag in '05 who had a Gen 4 with over 850,0000 miles although he admitted to an engine rebuild at 400,000miles.

Personally know one guy that had 116,000 miles on his VFR and it was still going great before some low life scum bag stole it from his locked garage.

Ceramic composite cylinders go easy on their pistons. No expansion contractions to work the rings. My friend on his 86 700vfr has over 100k and uses no oil.

I'm tryin to wear mine out but so far it just keeps going... It's got 64000 mi and the last 30000+ have been hard ones. I am trying to see how much abuse it can take...
