Hi, I am new here and just bought my first motorcycle, a 1986 VF500F. I learned to ride on it and loved it. However I notice when I am driving straight my handle bars are slightly slanted toward the left. The gas tank and front fairing are lined up but my handlebars are not. It really hasn't been a problem but I am afraid it might be wearing out my front tire wrong.

I have checked the front end and I have noticed the front wheel is not centered underneath the front fender. It is slightly closer to one side of the fender then the other. Not sure if that is it. Also my front brakes squeak sometimes really bad but I checked and they have lots of wear left. Could it be that my front wheel is not lined up right and maybe at an angle? I though maybe my break pads were being applied at an angle because of the wheel which may be why they squeak a lot. This is my first motorcycle so I am not sure what it may be.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Sounds like the forks may be twisted in the triple clamps. Put the bike on the center stand, raise the front end, and loosen the forks in the clamps. The lower triple clamp may be a little misaligned with the top. After they are loose, you should be able to straighten them out. I know this sounds a little crude, but once they are loose, you can give the ft. tire a swift kick to straighten it out. The ft. axle is kinda hard to get misaligned, but you should ck. it anyway. Also loosen the calipers, align the ft. wheel, then tighten the caliper bolts. Mine was misaligned and thats how I had to do it.
