Hand guards that work on VFR and don't hit the fairing?

I'm planning on going on a week long northern coastal trip this november and it's expected to be many hours of cold and wet. I really want to keep my hands dry and out of the wind, and my "100% guaranteed waterproof" goretex gloves have been anything but. Has anyoen come up with some creative solutions to this problem? I considered hand guards, but all of the reviews I've seen seem to indicate they like to interfere with fairings on sport bikes.

I found a cheap solution for rain covers for the hands. Bought some of those green thicker rubbyer/latexy painters glove gloves that fit loose over bare fingers from the hardware store. Over gloves (summer) they fit good, keep the water out along with the cold. Hey for 50 cents a pair they are a steal. Works great in a bind if needed. Last pretty long too.
