Hello from SC

Just got a 1997 VFR750 last Fri; dropped it yesterday morning (getting out of the parking garage!!); got stopped by the police yesterday afternoon.
Rough start, but I'll stay with it.

Now I have a damaged left mid fairing to repair (or replace).

Bummer, but best to get that kind of stuff out of the way to start with. Should be good to go now.

 

Buying a used bike is best. Dinging it up doesn't hurt nearly as much as scratching a new one the first time. And you don't feel obligated to wash it often.

Maybe you guys can give me some idea on how I dropped it.
Going slow to exit a parking garage to a 90 deg. turn, gave it a little gas (I thought) and looks like the rear span out and in a flash I was kissing the asphalt. No twitching on the rear or any warning.
WTF???

 

did you or someone else recently detail the bike and put tire shine in the tires?

 

sounds kinda like what Reg did.......he had cold tires...........

 

That sounds right; several people pointed that out. The bike sat all morning outdoors in the cold.

It's a bummer, but ride and learn. My scraped up knee will be my reminder (edit: check out my avatar -- that's what I'm talking about).

 

I pulled a full fucking retard move last year, gotta happen once in a while to keep from getting too cocky.Was sweet to, right in front of a captured audience.
