does anyone know of a good set of grips for our bikes? im not looking for heated, just comfortable. after riding my vfr for a little while (about 15-20min) my hands start to hurt. my friend said i should look into a set of grips cause the vibration of the bike is causing my hands to hurt. does that sound right or should i look into something else? thanks

just ordered a set of wilson gel grips.they say that it helps but i dont know.bought them because of the vfr logo.also u can try a bigger bar end weight to cut the vibs out.if you did it with a set from throttlemiester you would have cruise control.

My bike came with a thicker foam type grips. Seems to take away alot of the vibrations and easy to hold onto.

I swear by my ProGrip 669 (The number may be off). My buddies and I nick named them waffle grips because - well thats what the pattern on them looks like. If you would pull up in our 4-5 bike rider group and look around we all have them. I know Reg has a sexy red color set too. (Like 'em Reg?)
For a pick look on my gallery.

Hey 05, often the problem is not just the grips. More likely it is your riding position, and especially the handlebars. Many of us here have gone to different handlebars or risers with good results. I have a set of HeliBars on mine and I can personally recommend them. You might also take a close look at the type of gloves you are using. Many newbies make the mistake of buying gloves a bit too small thinking that they are going to stretch, but usually that is not the case. Always buy gloves that are comfortable in the store.
Also, like phycocircus said, make sure you have at least the stock bar-end weights. I put gel grips on my trail bike and like them very much.

well, i had an f4i before this and never had any problems with my hands, and i have the exact same gloves now, which are gel gloves. i was thinking about the handbars too, but figured a set of grips would be cheaper to start with than bars. i guess i could take a look around at some risers or a new bar. my friend also suggest risers before (but this was before i told him about my hands) just to help the riding poition

Yeah, they are 699. I was just gonna recommend them. I was gonna call them waffle grips, too cause it seems to be the best description. They are like $10 at my dealer and don't seem to wear quickly as mine have 10000 miles on them and look pretty much the same. I rode SLOVFRs bike with those foam grips and they felt weird to me but I could see how your hand would feel more rested as the grip is much wider but that made me feel like I couldn't hold on as tight if I needed to. here's a link to the website for progrip... http://www.progrip.com/default.asp?tip=2&ite=gri#top

well i think i might get the risers or helibar also, but i dont know which ones. i dont know if i wanna get just the risers to rase the bars, or get the helibars and have them moved back a little too.

My hands hurt too. When I don't use gloves it hurts worse. But gloves seems to be the anwser when grips aren't helping.

too bad there's no way for you to try both first. If you were close, you could try my helibars. they were already on the bike or I wouldn't have bought them as they seem a little pricey to me. the hand position is a little weird but I can ride all day with no major pain. I have never seen a bike with genmars so I can't compare them... I think maybe Tori has had both but I'm not sure...
