Need new grips. I have the old ones off, cuz they're turning into gum. How do I go about buying aftermarket grips online? I really can't be bothered to buy anything in an actual store, these days. Are there a standard set of sizes? This is for a gen3.

Any recommendations? What's the deal with gel grips? What's the orange/brown stuff left on the handlebars after I removed the grips? Is it like some sort of "locktite?" If so, what's it called?

    Any opinions of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RENT...7170830QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I like the Deathgrips myself... Not much for skulls but they feel good in my hands... The brown stuff is grip adhesive. Some folks use hairspray, grip adhesive; some folks have good favor with nothing at all...I would recommend the adhesive. Purchased at your favorite bike shop/motorcycle shop or Lowes under other adhesive names...such as 3M Adhesive... For street bikes, the clip on sizes are fairly standard. Never used gel grips before...

Thanks for the great info and recommendations, guys. I decided to give gel grips a try. And w/e that grip stuff is on my bars, it long ago dried and is now rock hard and nontacky and appears impossible to remove. I think I'll try the "nothing" option this time and see how that goes.

Try paint thinner, alcohol or lacquer thinner on that old adhesive. 3M makes several spray adhesives at about ten bucks a pop. Been using hairspray for years. Works fine.
