    Hello everyone!

    I've had my 1997 VFR 6 months now, and I've started modifying it little by little, and I have some questions.

    I'm wondering if anyone has used black widow header pipes, and if they're worth it.

    Are there any "must do" mods? I've tried looking around a bit, but I couldn't find conclusive answers.

    So, you've already upgraded all of the suspension then, right? ;-)

    Not worth the effort or money (for that particular system), imo. Likely will lose power thru most of the rev range. Enjoy the way your VFR sounds and runs with what looks like a decent high mount right exit slip-on.

    Yes, thanks. With the slim pickings, it seems Delkevic was the only choice without being patent for a used system to show up somewhere.

    Suspension is always the best money spent on the performance of your VFR. Many alternatives on suspension. Suggest going to DMr Suspension and have a look around for starters.

    RaceTech is my first go to for suspension upgrades...but my vfr already had Ohlins put on front and rear.
    Another very good upgrade is a shift kit from FactoryPro. Smooth as butter. Just my 2 satoshis

    The FactoryPro shift linkage is an elegantly simple bit of kit. It's a shame its so expense for a standard bearing and a stamped bit of metal.. But I guess everyone needs to make a buck somehow.
    Wb a CBR929 rear shock? I've seen a couple posts elsewhere about it. If I did that, what would be an equivalent "cheap-o" front end improvement? Springs and oil?

    edit: It's not that I'm a cheap bastard, it's just that I'm a cheap bastard :D

    Some would say the alternator R/R upgrade is 'necessary' for increased reliability.

    I know that the 929 rear shock was a very good upgrade for the 650 Hawk that had the ELF swingarm, but the upper hole on the shock had to be machined bigger and offset, so couldn't easily been done with a drill.
    Suspensions aren't cheap, but the RaceTech gold valves and springs/oil was a nice improvement on my 500 interceptor

    not really necessary until your luck runs out and something fails. some do last ok.
