    Greetings,

Just starting to poke around the forum but so far it looks awesome!

Though I grew up riding and racing dirt bikes the closest thing to a street bike I ever owned was a 1973 SL 125. So at age 51 I get a wild hair and decide to buy a sport touring machine. A friend of mine told me to check out the VFR. Two weeks later I bought a 2007 Dark Red Interceptor (non-ABS) with only 3200 miles on it. I've had it a year and love it though I don't get to ride it nearly enough!

Could use some advice on any maintenance concerns in the first 4 - 10K miles. Current mileage is 4150. Previous owner did initial dealer service and I believe changed the oil again before 3200 miles. Valve adjustments? Brakes? What else?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Welcome. According to your 07 VFR's owners manual valve inspection is done at 16k miles. However VFR's are known going much further before requiring valve adjustments. The oil change interval is recommend every 8k. Most owners probably change their oil a little more frequently than every 8k. Brakes are a wear & tear item, every rider is different. One person may get 7k out of set of brakes another may get 20k. Here is a link to a thread containing 6th gen Honda service manual. May I remind you of your obligation to post pics of your bike.

Also Honda recommends clutch fluid & brake fluid changes every 2 years as well as coolant.

Welcome! Depending on where you are in GA, we should get together for a ride, maybe pick a lunch destination and enjoy the day. I know a great pizza place in Dawsonville.

Forsyth County. I know Dawsonville well. Are you referring to Johnny's near Varsity and Northstar Bikes?

Welcome aboard from John's Creek, GA!! If you need help with basic maintenance or just want to learn how to do stuff on your own (brakes, chain, sprockets, bearings, fluids, charging issues, etc.) just lemme know and I'll be happy to help you out and teach you as well. I also have a tire changer and static wheel balancer so you don't have to get raped by the dealership when it comes time for new rubber. I'm in North Fulton off of 141 just south of Suwanee btw.
