    Greetings folks,

I'm contemplating getting either a late Gen5 or early Gen6 hopefully sometime in early-mid '12. I have a buddy who has an '00 and after having been on a few long rides on his I'm definitely impressed and am interested in picking one up.

I've been the second owner of an '84 FJ1100 for the last 4 years. Initially I had this along with a '00 Concours, but someone decided to hop the curb in front of a friend's house and so that was taken out. That had 125K miles on it when it was dragged up on the wrecker almost 4 years ago. I was the original owner, so yeah-I ride a lot. I have 83K miles on the FJ (picked it up with 29K) and its fantastic, runs like a top and can still run away and hide from folks on more modern bikes who aren't on either their A game or on one of the newer big sport bikes that weigh 100 lbs less and have 65 more HP. So needless to say it's a keeper.

But I really like these VFRs.

Good Ergos, better than decent MPG on the slab, very nimble in the twisties, enough power that I don't get off the FJ and feel like I'm on a maxi-scoot.

Oh yeah, and probably as reliable as my FJ, which is definitely something I appreciate.

Plus, it'll be nice to have a bike in the stable that was made in the last quarter century.

So, mostly I'll be roaming around collecting info for the eventual day my money is right enough that my wife won't be pissed at me owning more than one bike. I spend most of my time over at ADV forums (Ultravoyageant), and I'm also over on STN (Chosemerveilleux). I was also over on Ducati forums but after having three of my friends who have pretty damn new Ducs (a Multi12, an 1198 and a monster 1100s) that ended various days of riding on flatbeds due to random mystery issues that made them no-worky, I think my interest in them has pretty much gone the way of the dodo.

So cheers in advance for any info I get from you folks. Looking forward to picking one up sometime in the not too distant future.

    Cheers,

    Dennis

Gidday from Canada, Dennis...Yes, pics of your perfect-for-you 5th or 6th Gen. are requisite - and the sooner the better.
PS. If you end up coming across a mint 5th Gen with low miles and proper maintenance, snatch it up.

Cheers for the link to the 5th/6th gen discussion. I'm going to take my time checking it out tomorrow at the shop while some new sneakers get put on my FJ.
